We wanted to learn more about Landon and how his time making music. Here’s what we found out:

Hey Landon, thanks for joining us today. Hope you’re doing okay during all these crazy times. So let’s start by learning more about you as a person.  Where are you from, are you signed, what instruments do you play, and what do you like to do outside of music?

Hey guys, you too, and thanks for having me.

I’m a 23 years old singer, producer, rapper, from Danville Kentucky. I currently live in Nashville TN.

I play a lot of instruments but my main is violin and I’m about to graduate from college so that’s been occupying most of my time outside of music.

And regarding being signed, I actually signed publishing overseas for Asian territory for KPOP stuff, but I’m still independent in the states.

That’s unreal man, can you tell me a little more about that deal?

Yeah man, I write KPOP stuff which is really like 2011 r&b/hip-hop. I go out there and stay for two weeks at a time and make songs for certain Kpop acts. Recently I’ve written for Cix and Kang Daniel. I love Seoul, it’s so dope. Definitely going back soon.

Let’s move on and talk a bit more about your music. How would you describe it?

I really just make stuff I would like to listen 2. My friends tell me I make “rain” music I guess because of the Rhodes and smooth r&b sounds but with the hip-hop idk personally I think it’s all over the place sonically. I wanna make music that sounds like you’re in a limo with some champagne.

What situation do you picture people vibing to your music most?

I feel like I got songs for different occasions so I guess it depends on what vibe the listener is on.

How and why did you get started with music?

I started first by playing violin when I was a kid and that gave me my musical foundation. Then I got into hip-hop which really changed my life. I have a very musical family so I had access to a studio to record myself and I just keep practicing and practicing. I would burn mixtape CDs of my terrible songs and try to sell em at school haha I just kept at it tho. Starting uploading my stuff to SoundCloud and youtube until I started getting feedback.

Who or what are your biggest musical influences?

50 Cent, J Dilla, Blackthought, Lil Wayne, D’Angelo, Miles Davis, Lloyd, TPain, UGK, Curren$y, Erykah Badu, Timberlake, Chet Baker, Mac Miller, Ludacris, Curtis Mayfield, etc. A whole lotta 2000’s Hiphop & R&B as well as a lot of instrumental jazz and string music. I was going through datpiff trying to find mixtapes, I was on youtube digging through old Nas cuts and old Kanye beat making videos and all that. I get inspired by airplanes and hotels and whatnot. I get really inspired when I’m in big cities.

Who would be your dream to collaborate with?

Corinne Bailey Rae

As an artist, what are some of your major goals in the next five years?

I want to sign some producers and start producing for everybody. I want to keep pushing myself as an instrumentalist and vocalist and just recording every day really. I like the process more than the actual reward. I just like waking up and making songs. I’m also an entrepreneur tho so I’m tryna get these cuts out here haha

Any near-future plans? Songs dropping or other things to look out for?

Album this year and until then a constant stream of incredibly fire singles. Also, merch coming soon and a tour if they gon let people see live music.

Do you have a favorite bar from your tracks?

I do at times but I record them so I don’t have to remember them anymore. I’m pretty bad at remembering my own lyrics but in all my recent stuff I feel like you can find a line or two.

What are you listening to right now?

That Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes album is crazy, Westside Gunn – Pray for Paris, uhhh the new Isaiah Rashad single is dope. Other than that I been listening to Herb Ellis & Remo Palmier ‎– Windflower (1978) It’s a really cool jazz record I stumbled on. Other than that just a lot of Korean funk and jazz, and old gangsta rap.
