The power of music is universal. As seen with our next artist, having his reach extended thousands of miles away from his small hometown of Salzburg, Austria, Noah Nührig, also known as NO7iCE (pron. “notice”), was brought to our attention through his captivating, futuristic, and electronic production. Since the start of 2020, he has wasted no time in building a strong and varied discography with the release of four singles, “To the Sky,” “Talewip,” “Blurred lines” and “SMT26.”

NO7iCE began his music journey in 2010, and has collaborated with a variety of artists such as Devaloop, MoVibes, Hae, and Jazzo since then. He brings purpose with each meticulous sound incorporated in his music, encompassing stories and atmospheres without the need for any lyrics. While his production firmly stands alone, NO7iCE has no problem bringing in the voices of others to complete his vision (his 2019 collaboration with young South African rapper Toxic serving as a prime example). With consistent development, we’re excited to see where he will take his music next.

Hey NO7iCE, hope you’re doing okay during these unprecedented times. Thanks for taking the time to let us get to know you a little better! We’d love to start off with some of the basics…

My name is NO7iCE (pron. notice) I’m a Producer and DJ from Salzburg, Austria. I’m 26 years old and outside of music I work as an artist and sculptor. I enjoy creating and being able to bring my ideas and thoughts to life, whether it’s music, painting and drawing or working with different materials like wood, stone or bronze. Besides art, I love to be outside with my dog or do action sports like skating, snowboarding, surfing or motorcycling.

So you’re from Salzburg, Austria. What’s the music scene like there?

Salzburg is a pretty small town, but many really good artists, DJs and producers come from here. So shout-out to Aramboa, Devaloop, Mr. Käfer, DJ Sticky, Demuja to name a few.

How would you describe your music?

I’m producing Trap, Hip Hop and House music and I’m always trying to give my productions a futuristic touch.

How and why did you get started with music?

From an early age on I’ve been surrounded by many different genres like classic, jazz, rock and hip hop. I never really learned an instrument, but always had a deep connection to music. Also through my elder brother, who used to be DJ as well, I was addicted to find out how it works. Around 2010 my sister gave me the program reason where I made my first beats. Later I switched to Ableton Live and from there on my music evolved to what it sounds today.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

DJ Premier, J dilla, Mr.Carmack, Kaytranada and Eprom to count it on one hand.. I could write so many more…

Who would be your dream to collaborate with?

Heavy question. In terms of production, I would love to collaborate with Mr. Carmack. When I think of vocalists I would love to hear what I could make with Sza.

As an artist, what are some of your major goals in the next five years?

Being able to pay my bills from music and art.

Any near-future plans? Songs dropping or other things to look out for?

I’m currently collaborating with Aramboa and I’m focused on constant releases, so there is a lot to expect.

What are you listening to right now?

Ikebe Shakedown, Rob Araujo, Badbadnotgood, DECAP, TEK.LUN to name a few.
